ABOUT RENEE PORTER
Renee McBride Porter is a seasoned attorney, Youth Court Referee, and passionate child advocate who brings both heart and grit to the courtroom. A lifelong Mississippian, Renee has been practicing law since 1989 as the General Manager of Porter Law Firm in Columbia, Mississippi, where she specializes in domestic cases and Guardian Ad Litem service.

Since 2021, Renee has taken on dual roles as both the Youth Court Referee and Special Master in Marion County, where she’s led transformative efforts in child welfare. Under her leadership, the number of children in county custody dropped from over 300 to under 50 — a testament to her hands-on, family-focused approach. She works closely with Child Protection Services, attends family meetings, and still finds time to celebrate wins with cake and community events.

When she's not in the courtroom, Renee is deeply involved in civic life. She serves on the Board of Directors for Southeast Mississippi Legal Services, is an active member at Edna Baptist Church, and even directs Bible Drills. A proud alumna of the University of Mississippi School of Law (top 10% of her class!) and the University of Southern Mississippi, Renee was honored as Outstanding Citizen of the Year in 2023 by Columbia’s Junior Auxiliary.
She’s also no stranger to the national stage — in 2022, she attended the National Conference for Juvenile and Family Court Judges in Reno, Nevada, bringing home fresh ideas and renewed energy for justice reform.

Whether she's advocating for families, mentoring young attorneys, or cheering on local youth, Renee is all about community, compassion, and creating lasting change — one case, one child, and one conversation at a time.
